Picky!!!

Does anyone have parents who are extremely picky over everything? I have a few but one in particular who drives me crazy. Each week its something from capped lips, to sweater being on and off, toys in class, the food, having to pay for field trips etc. Its like when my classroom phone rings I "cringe" as I know who it is and its a complaint. How do you handle it especially when its something out of your control and the parent doesn't get it?

Can you refer her to the office. Or ask the secretary to take a message from this parent so you dont have to talk to her?

I had that parent last year. The kindergarten teacher stops me every other day to complain about that parent. I apologize, laugh, and move on. I did my time.

Every day it is something different. She used to be a teacher at my school, but quit to raise her children, and I have been dreading her for a year. I can't believe she actually has the guts to complain about some of the things that she does or make the special requests because she knows what it is like to be in the teacher's shoes.

Wishful thinking!

I wish it was that easy, she also goes and complains to the directors and they just put up with her and direrct her back to me and give dumb me ideas to deal with her. Just yesterday she phoned to tell ask me if the class was going outside, I said, "no" as it was a very cool, wet and muddy out from the previous days of rain we'd had. She goes onto say that she didn't want her son to go out as she had given him a bath that morning instead of the previous evening and didn't want him to get sick from a morning bath.

Now when I spoke to her it was 9:30 am and he arrives at school at 7:00 each morning. Doesn't make sense right? But this is the kind of additonal things I get from her at least 3 times a week. Either its to nick-pick or its someting that doesn't make any sense and is a waste of time.

Hours for calls

I would inform her that I am able to take phone calls between 10 and 10:15 except on Tuesday when I have yard duty.

I would tell her if she wants to speak to me after school, to call the office and leave a message.

The office at our school has strict instructions NOT to put calls through... unless it is an emergency.

If that momma wants to tell you about her child's bath..she needs to send a note (for heaven's sake)
