Anybody using a vocabulary program in second grade, not the words from the stories, but a whole class list?

I use a list that I found on the internet, that is a national vocabulary list for 2nd graders. It introduces six words a day for four days of the weeks. I introduce the all the words at the beginning of the week, and we do different activities throughout the week with the words. What type of activities do you do with the words. Do you have your students read for sight, use in sentences, look up in dictionary, what?
Are these words to increase their reading voc. or their word meaning voc.?
