has anyone used one of these? Our school purchased some to use and I was wondering if anyone has any cool ideas for projects, etc.

I like to video my students acting out stories. We retell stories often in class like "Three Billy Goats Gruff," "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," "The Little Red Hen," and "Mrs. Wishy Washy" to name a few. We watch the performances on our promethean board and I show them to parents when they come for events.

I also have used them to document the children attaining certain skills. It can be useful in conferences because you can show the parents what the child is doing. I had special ed. student last year who wouldn't eat solid food. He started biting, chewing, and swallowing during snack time, but wasn't carrying the skill over to home. I videoed him one day during snack and his parents were able to see that he could indeed eat solid food.

My school just won one in a contest that we had. They are nice, we have taken it on field trips and have filmed a few things that have taken place at school. I might use it to record my kids doing weather reports when we learn about weather.

A definate for the flip cams. You can also tape a student reading a passage at the beginning of the week and again on Friday on the same passage and see how their fluency has improved.

I record EVERYTHING! Well, not everything, but just about everything! Every presentation we do (formal and informal) classroom work time, game time, buddy time, recess, anything. I throw clips together and make mini-movies of the kids to put on the class website. They love watching themselves! My favorite part I would say, is recording their presentations - they make for great parent conference evidence, as well as great examples for future students to see things that were done in the past for units we're working with.

I like it, and my kids LOVE it. I recorded Student Council speeches and the kids using sign language. They also used them to make biography movies. It is SO SO SO easy to use.
This is my first year with it.
I upload the videos to my website, which is really fun for the kids to be able to show their parents at home.
