I need some input about "signing out"...

I have only been posting for a short time but it seems that more and more people are signing out when they post. Are people worried about something that I am unaware of? I get the anonymity thing but since we don't know each other-who cares?

sometimes you want to bring up something or respond to something and leave no track back to your PT identity. In a perfect world no would pass judgement on anything you say, but we don't live in a perfect word.

Also, you never know if something you say could be recognized by a faculty member at your school.

also if you have posted for a long period of time people begin to recognize names and we all accidently give hints about where we live etc.

People have been busted before. If you post about a continued problem at your school or a unique situation at your school it's probably best to sign out.

It's better to post if you think somebody you REALLY know might be reading. I know of a teacher in my district who was fired over something she said publicly about her students on Facebook. Better to be safe than sorry. I've also been told many times that "What is said in cyberspace stays in cyberspace." Posts at Proteacher are also keep in archives.
