If so, what are you doing? We were told to include something about the census over the next few weeks. Is anyone else required to do this?

We have been strongly encouraged to do something on the census. I have no idea what I am going to do.

It's not required for me, but I plan on touching it anyway. And, a lot of it can be cross-curricular. Yay!
I plan on going over with my class what a census does, what kind of information it gathers and why it is important. Then, I plan on taking a "census" of our school (its small). We will as a class think of categories and things to include, but obviously it will not be so complex, nor have the same types of information. For those in a larger school, you could adapt it to just include all students in your grade. I plan on working with another teacher to collect and calculate the results, and then as a wrap up activity, we will look over our results, and discuss as a class. Hope this helps!
