does anyone have poems/songs for individual letters of the alphabet? i want to review each letter/sound of the alphabet and words that start with the letters. i haven't had any luck finding poems/songs for individual letters on my own though.

if anyone knows where i could find some that would be awesome!!!

each week, i have a song (jolly jingles, cd) and letter poem (the sk's complete a cloze activity while the jk's practice forming the letter) to reinforce the sound of the week.
the poems all follow the same format: three pics, three items that begin with letter sound, last two lines rhyme.

Example: Aa
A is for alligator
A is for ants
A is for apple on my pants.

Ss
S is for sun
S is for socks
S is for snails on my blocks.

I found the whole set online, but when I needed digraph poems I made up my own for "th", "ch" and "sh". I'll see if I can find the link, if you like 'em.

Did you make picture cards that the kids match up with the items in the poems?

i have the poem printed up with three blocks for them to draw in the pictures, but i do give them cards with the rhyming words on them, so that they can match them up to the chart, and also use them to copy if they need to when they write the words in the blanks on their version.

right, mrs. meacham has them! i forgot. i'd found them somewhere else years ago but her site is great overall.

ABC song chart

Scholastic's ABC song chart is wonderful. The easy to see laminated and spiral bound pages are perfect for highlighting the capital and lower case letter of the week or identifying rhyming words. My kids sing these songs over and over again through out the year. I also printed the songs out to include in the letter of the week ABC journals that the kids keep.
