Thanksgiving Stations

My first grade team is planning on doing Thanksgiving stations the day before Thanksgiving. Last year, I did sand art drawings with the kids. It was messy, but fun. Do you have any fun ideas? Last year one of the other classes made headbands. Someone elase made spirit shields. It can be Native American/Pilgrim based or just turkey fun! TIA!

P.S. The center rotate every 20 minutes

This is a neat concept. Did you do stations in your room only or did you rotate with the other first grade classroom? This sounds like a fun! I will share this with my team mates

Butter

We make butter the day before Thanksgiving break! We talk about how the pilgrims made butter so many years ago. I show them pictures of old butter churns (thank goodness for Google Images!). I make small cornbread muffins (not the big cupcake size, the mini size) and bring in heavy whipping cream. I have old glass baby food jars. I fill the jars halfway with the whipping cream. I put the kids in small groups (5-7 kids) and they take turns shaking the jars. We sing "Shake, shake, shake. Shake, shake, shake. Shake that butter. Shake that butter!" They shake for the length of that phrase then they switch. You'll know when it's done because the butter will start to form a ball and turn yellowish. I open the jars and put some on each cornbread muffin as I pass them out. It's a lot of fun!

There isn't a pattern for the soldiers. They are done TLC style. I just posted the measurements and directions on the Kindergarten page. You can see a picture on my November page.
