What do with extra wall space

I have rearranged my classroom/office a little, and it has left me with an extra bit of wall! Now what do I do with it? It's about 6 feet wide and is kind off to the side a little, like a little alcove. There is a waist-high bookcase in there already that is not going anywhere.

Some facts about my room and students:
-I teach remedial reading grades 6-8 in a small non-traditional ("alternative") middle school
-I only have 3 or 4 students in each class (20 total)
-I already have an interactive word wall, class rules, and some reading strategies posters up

I'd welcome any ideas you have!

Student work?

Can you give everyone 9"x11" space? You could put up construction paper squares, one for each student (let them choose their colors), and have them post "best work" that they've done (poems, a special paragraph, an "about me" page, a mini book report an illustration of a story they've read and liked) and want to display. Five across and four down would allow everyone to have a spot to display whatever they want. I do this with my class, and they love to put published work up-it doesn't have to be perfect, or very long. Once a few kids post work, the others may want to have theirs up there, too!

Student Wall of Fame/ Learning Centers

You could post student work on that wall and just change it out often and that way your decor would change constantly. You could put some plastic pockets on the wall and put some learning centers in them where students can pull the handout out of the pocket off the wall and take it back to their seat.
