Report Cards

This is our first year with the all day, everyday kindergarten program. I'm wondering what other districts require for report cards? How many times a year are they sent home? We currently do them in Jan. and June with parent/teacher conferences in Nov. and March.

That's what we do also--report cards in January and May. Progress reports in November and March along with conferences...altho our conference schedule changed this year to match our high schools...kinda weird days...October 5, December 6, and March. I did new kindergarten kids in October, 1st graders in December, and then either an open house or conferences for kids I am concerned about in March. We didn't get enough time to do all our students like we used to, and admin is letting set them up how we want to...

We do report card every nine weeks. (We've been full day for the past 15 years)

We send report cards

every 6 weeks! Prior to this year, we sent report cards every 12 weeks and progress reports at the halfway point between each grading period. The district just did a report card overhaul and parents, teachers, and others on the board decided that we should do report cards every 6 weeks and record them on their permanent records.

The report card for K-5 is the same... Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Soical Studies, Special Areas, and Learning Behaviors. They get a letter grade for performance in each area and a number grade (1-4) for progress in sub categories for each area. It was tough to fill out the first time because of the change but I think it paints a better picture of how students are doing in school.

Speaking of... there is no school today and yesterday was the last day of the grading period. I know what I am spending my day doing!
