I am in a long term sub (4 weeks so far) for the first time. I am new to all this. Well, in two weeks the school has to give out grades/report cards. How do I grade students? what counts? please I would really appreciate all your help. I have not idea. I have been giving them pop quizes, hws, classwork, and tests (required for Language Art)
thanks,

shouldn't you be asking the regular teacher how this works?

Ask around at school

You might want to get together with the teacher you are subbing for , he/she should be able to help you or ask your grade level partners... or the principal Each school does things a little differently so you might want to ask around at the school you are working at.

You could ask the principal what expectations are...
You might ask a colleague in the same grade level?
Depending on why you are subbing, you may want to think of some guidelines of your own--how long will you be subbing? When I came in last year, the longterm sub had created his own classroom environment while i'd been gone--he WAS the teacher, after all. Don't be afraid to jump in and make it your own for as long as you are there.
