Does anyone have ideas for what they do for Veteran's Day? We are required to do something and I haven't thought about it too much yet. I am open to suggestions! Thank you!

My class has written thank you letters to our local Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW). I've been told they have them on display at their building. The class enjoys thanking them for their bravery in fighting for our freedom.

I have a lamenated paper flag and once we discuss what Veteran's Day is about I have the kids name the people in their family that have served in the military. We then write their names on the flag and then display it with a big "thank you" in the hallway. The kids have often gone home and come back with even more names to add and they often have had some awesome discussions with parents about those same people.

I read the Rookie Reader about Veterans Day. We also write thank you letters to veterans. They are so sweet!

Veterans from other nations...

Thank you for the flag idea MizBeetle

I may expand on that, if I can get it all together by tomorrow! I have students from several different countries in our class, it would be neat to have them go home, write down the names and identify what country they served for.

Then we could list them under their nations flag, too, along with those serving for the United States.

Thanks!
