I know there comes a point when we all feel like sometimes, we do not have enough time in the day...

Today, that bomb was dropped on me. I have 9 teaching periods for math a week and 4 for science, each being 42 minutes long ... minus now 2 blocks to complete study island for the achievement tests ... minus buckle down (love ohio achievement test prep material) ... minus time taken away for practice tests, field trips, assemblies, etc ...minus time spent on discipline and waiting for them to be quiet ... minus ridiculously long Everyday Math lessons my students cannot complete in 84 minutes anyway, ... and I'm left with how much ?

I feel your pain. Why is it that they keep adding and never take anything away?

We are tested in every subject at Grade 5, and yet fifth grade is the year of mandatory chorus (45 min/week), optional band (which at least 85% of the grade opts for, so there's another 45 min/week, plus 30 min lessons for each instrument), and last year they made us do enrichment 2x week (another 45 min each). Now they want us to put in Study Island and start doing Fastt Math, because all of our kids last year went down in math. Gee, I wonder why?

Then my principal dropped school goals, professional development plans, and wanted lengthy write ups from each grade level on what we did last year to meet the school improvement plan. Report cards are due tomorrow, we've been having P/T conferences since October started and, oh yeah, I need to teach as well!

I can't create time!

What is going on in education???? They just keep piling on more and more and more. Obviously standards can't be met without being given the time to meet them. I think administrators completely forget where they came from! At least mine have. I can't possibly fit one more meeting, one more documentation, one more anything in my day! I want my life back.
