kinder reading at 3rd grade level

What do i do with a k child who is reading fluently and understands what he is reading on a 3rd grade level. He is reading M books on an independent level. He's on the autism spectrum but in a regular class. He's pretty smart. His handwriting is like a 3 year old. Very interesting. This is typical with kids on the spectrum, but what do I do during reading workshop??
TIA

Do you do reading groups? I have 2 students who are reading K books, so I have them grouped together in guided reading..

I have a kindergarten this year who is reading on a 3rd grade level as well. I allow her to independently read 3.0 -3.7 Accelerated Reader level books & take test. Her instructional level is 4.0-so I have a time when I do guided reading with her only-based on the 4th grade level.

Why not ask comprehension questions and have him type his answers. Or have him write some answers and then type the rest. How about doing a character or author study with him?

I agree wiht getting him some on-level books. My son is not autistic, but he also read on a 3rd grade level in K and his teacher did NOTHING about it. It really bothered me, too cause she was a very old friend of mine.

I definitely want to address his needs and move him foward. I really can't give him anything to write yet because his writing skills are far below his reading skills. He can barely write letters. He doesn't know how to form or space letters. This doesn't match his reading skills so I guess I have to question him.
Thanks for the advice

could you talk to one of your 1st grade colleagues about taking him for a portion of their reading time?
