Augustus, Thank You!

I just wanted to say thank you. This year is my first subbing MS and HS and in a large city school district. I have had to "push the black button" a few times and you gave me the courage to do so. (Of course, this does not mean I didn't go home and cry over not being able to control the classroom. I never let the kids see me sweat!!) Knowing that you can call security and having the students KNOW that you will, have made all the difference in the world in my subbing.

And it's getting easier and easier to handle the bad apples. So if no one appreciates you, Augustus, I do! Thanks for all of your informative comments.

An office call switch

The black button is pressed to hook you straight to the office and they call security. They arrive in less then 5 minutes and stay with you until the AP arrives.

I suppose you can use it for any emergency really, mine have just been of the "send the goof-off out of the room kind".

I need a black button! I hate it when I realize I need to send someone to the office and I have to figure out what the # is. The extention list has names in alphabetical order but doesn't say "THIS IS THE OFFICE"
I've made 3 calls so far this year to have someone taken out. I'm thinking as the year wears on, that should settle down - - until the last few weeks!

Augustus has been a big help to me too. I think it's because he feels confident about things I agonize about. His voice says "yes, you're OK, keep going - and act bored with their antics" !!!! I'm still working on my "bored" face!

You mean your school HAS a black button? Never heard of it. Never seen one. Sometimes would like to have one... And have never seen the assistant principals anywhere near my classes, either...
