Does anyone know of a website similar to Spelling City but for vocabulary instead? We use Words their Way and I have a group that is focusing more on word meanings than spelling.

that you have to sign up for (it's free). It's called PlayKidsGames.com You can create your own vocabulary list and definitions, but I guess it has to be approved before it is made public. There's a section on the homepage for Vocabulary Games with lists already made by teachers.

I just noticed something about Spelling City this week with my class...there are a couple of games (Match It! and Which Word?) that do require the students to understand the words in the context of the sentence, so that might be helpful too once they know the definitions. I know it has helped my kids a lot with understanding some unfamiliar spelling words.

by Scholastic (find it at www.Scholastic.com) has some features which allow you to creat quizzes, but so far I haven't found anything quite as comprehensive as Spelling City for vocab.

I would think you could still use spelling city. A lot of the games include sentences, definitions, etc.

Thank you for posting the PlayKidsGames site. That's a new site for me and it looks very promising. I bookmarked it and plan on spending time to check it out later.
