The Terrible Wave

Hi. Years ago when I taught fifth grade I did this book. It came in novel form with an old HM series. I liked the book and I wanted to use it with some advanced readers in 3rd grade. We teach about PA and since it is historical fiction about the Johnstown Flood thought it would be cool. NOW FOR THE QUESTION-

HOW DO I FIND OLD BOOKS? Ebay did not have them. I am at a new school, and we do not have them. Do you think HM would sell them to me?

Advice from a bookseller

I did a quick search for your book and from what I can tell... it is out of print. That means that the only way you could get copies would be from people willing to sell their old copies. Unfortunately, publishers do not keep the books on hand after the book goes out of print.

Thanks for your help. So sad when a good book is out of print!

Glad I could help! and sorry it's not the news you wanted!

I always get super-worried when I fall in love with a book and I notice the publisher printing fewer and fewer copies... some books go out of print in less than a year!

Was there a book called the Terrible Wave from Scholastic's December catalog for Arrow? I don't want to get you excited, because it could be the same title but different story. Might want to check it out? Sorry if it's not what you wanted.

I just started this book as a novel study. I am not sure how you would be able to get copies of them though. Can you contact any other schools in your district to see if you can borrow them?
