You know the ornaments where the students put white paint on their fingers and then grip a plain colored ornament to make a group or family of snowmen? What kind of paint and what kind of ornaments do you use? I was thinking the liquid acrylics/craft paint like at Michaels - would that be right? And I was wondering if the shatterproof ornaments work. Please help! Thank you.

Oh, and then how do you make the finishing touches - do Sharpies work?

Yes...I use the acrylic craft paint from any craft store.

I don't use Sharpies I buy the "paint pens" from the craft store too.
Red for the scarf...Orange for the nose...Black for the details and hat and White for the snowflakes in the air.

The shatterproof ornaments work fine!

I've attached an old post about them. I've never done it before but plan to do it this year. I got the acrylic paint from Michael's one week when they were on sale. I got Christmas balls last year after Christmas - mine are glass - I hope they will be ok. I didn't even think of trying to find shatterproof ones. I was thinking about decorating with Sharpies too, but paint pens are mentioned in the post.

These are so cute! I've used craft paint for the handprint and Sharpies for the decorating. If you get Sharpies in several different colors, the kids love to put all the finishing touches on. I think that I have used a shatterproof type of ball, but I don't remember for sure. I got the balls at Walmart.

Awesome! Thank you so much, each of you! I've added paint pens to the list, and yes, Walmart is the first stop to buy the ornaments. Thanks again!
