Can anyone share topics they teach for science? We have done Magnets, Pumpkins, Leaves, Five Senses, etc. I'm having trouble thinking of what science skills and lessons I should plan for.

Any help would be greatlyyyyy appreciated
thank you!

In January I do snow - you could make fake snow, melt snow and see what it looks like.
Polar Animals - you could do the blubber glove experiment. If you don't know it just google it.
At different times I do Life cycles - I do butterflies, chickens, frogs.
In December I spend hte whole month on five senses and the holidays so I can't help you out for next month.

Next week we are doing germs because of flu season. We are talking about the correct way to wash hands, and when to wash hands (we have kids who wash, go play for 10 mins, then when I say its snack time, they dont want to wash because they just did).

Hibernation
Spiders
Weather

During fire safety week put a candle in a jar and then put on the lid- fire needs oxygen. Then I teach Stop Drop and Roll.

Different states of matter, solid, liquid gas. ice water steam. My lesson is "frying ice cubes"
Usually do it in the winter with snow also
Things that float and things that sink

Plants, grow in a bottle of water to see the roots.

What grows on trees, underground, vines, etc...
Make different things-peanut butter, bread, butter, ice cream
measure things; rulers, scale: standard units of measurement
weigh pumpkins
sound waves-tuning forks

worms, i make a worm jar so the kids can see how worms mix things up.

temperature, weather, wind

Plants need light (put a pot of seeds in the window and in the closet)

Biomes, where things live.
Seasons
Hibernation

Maybe I should keep brain storming. Our district has talked about developing scope & sequence and curriculum. I would already have a start to writing down what I do!
