The 12 Videos of Christmas

I found these 12 short videos (2 -- 5 minutes) on the History Channel on interesting topics surrounding the history of December holidays and traditions from ancient to contemporary times . As a 6th grade teacher I am very happy to find something to use that my kids haven't already done in lower grades and this will be a great part of my Holidays Around the World unit!

I have been viewing and reviewing them as I write math problems, writing prompts, and comprehension questions for them. I think they will make great morning warmups or time fillers during those crazy weeks in December. I will post any documents I create to go with them and, of course, I hope others will do the same.

Thank you SOOOO much! What a great way to bring in the culture and history of the season. And how nice there is something for the older crowd - 5/6th grades.

I have a Jehovah's Witness this year, and I'm wondering about his participation in them. I guess I'll just ask him, and let him decide.

Personally, I find it more of a history/culture lesson than any actual celebrating of the holiday.

I do appreciate it. I am hope I am able to pull these up at school. I almost decided not to do any type of holiday unit, but I think I can fit it in somehow. Thanks again. Keep those good ideas coming.
