I need help finding ideas on what to do with my students that are on a higher reading and math level. My principal wants us to keep these students challenged. I have no clue what to do. Most of the time I am worring about the students that are not on level. Please help me with any ideas for math and reading.

as you... with a cluster of gifted students it is really obvious to me that I need to differentiate my instruction. With reading I put together book club groups using chapter books. I ask my students to answer higher level thinking type questions. Math has a few more challenges. I try to split my class into three leveled groups and have some more challenging material for the high students. Good luck!

For my enrichment reading group I do lliterature circles with higher level chapter books. Other teachers at my school use Junior Great Books. We work a lot on developing "thick" questions and meaningful discussion. Hope this helps.

I use lit circles in my class. My principal wants something else for my high students. She thinks that lit circles are not challenging enough for these high students.
