Does your school have a chaperone code of conduct? If it does would you be willing to share it with me?

Thanks!

No, we do not have one, but we are in dire need of a code of conduct! In October we had the field trip from _ _ _ _. Not only the students, but the parents! Instead of guiding the children, these "adults" spent the time texting, phoning, and chatting. The tour guide even had to stop the presentation to ask the PARENTS to be quiet. Then it did no good as the adults looked at each other and continued their conversation. It was terrible. Now I have second thoughts about any future trips with this class of students and parents.

Hi
Ours is just that parents cannot bring little siblings on the trip sso that they can devote their full attention to the kids. THey cannot use phones or anything while inside wherever we are going. They bring phones for emergencies only since they are usually drivers on the trips. Hope that helps.

This message is sent to each parent when the volunteer to go on a field trip.

Volunteer Information
Thank you for volunteering to go with us on our field trip! The following is a list of responsibilities for volunteers:

1. You will be assigned responsibility for a group of students.
2. Those students should be with you at all times.
3. Do not allow students to leave the group to go to the bathroom or anywhere else on their own. Make arrangements with the teacher or other volunteer to cover your group while you accompany a student to the bathroom.
4. Monitor student behavior and stop any behavior or actions that are unsafe or inappropriate. Remind students to “Look, Listen, and Learn”.
5. If you have difficulty with any student, let one of the teachers know.
6. If you see a student not with his/her group, please take that student to the teacher or his/her group.
7. Please reserve cell phone usage for emergencies only.

Though we understand it is inconvenient, we ask that you not bring preschool aged siblings. This allows you to focus your attention on the students you are supervising.
