Hi I'm new to third grade. I used the Naked Turkey assignment for Thanksgiving, they are outside my door as I type. It was a wonderful idea! Does anyone have something along the lines of that for Christmas. Maybe a creative activity with writing. I want to get a jump start, so after Thanksgiving I can post them up. I am going to do a unit on the Gingerbread Man (reading different stories and compare, comprehension pieces, reader's theater, etc.). What we are going to do is a Naked Gingernread Man activity. It is the same as the Naked Turkey, except now it is the shape of a gingerbread man that does not want to be eaten so he can walk around town and not be scared.

In third grade last year we did a writng prompt and family project --Santa's Sleigh has brokien and he needs a new one. Students have to create a new modern super sleigh . They also had to write about how Santa's sleight was broken ( ex. an elf took it for a ride, Rudolph took it for a ride, etc) Then they had to explain and describe the new sleigh they created. They worked on the sleigh at home-- some just drew a picture others made a sleigh out of boxes,etc.It was really cute and they were very creative-- some had hot chocolate dispensers, flood lights, etc.
