Hi, Just got an Elmo and so I am looking for tips on how to use in a Kindergarten. Any ideas would be helpful as I am feeling technology challenged!

Your kids will LOVE sharing their writing on the elmo!
I love to read books on it that are too small to be read to a group.
I also hook my computer up to it and you can share anything on the "big screen"
Showing the whole class how to do a worksheet, an art project, examine money, etc.
The list goes on, but those are some of the things I've done recently.

Oh! I will I had an Elmo. I would do read story time books on it while the kids are at their desks and maybe ask them to draw what the story makes them feel/think about while listening to the story.

are great for shared reading. especially if you have a book/poem that is to small for the class to see. you can hook your computer up to it and show power points about different topics too. you are lucky to have one.

I love my ELMO!!! The dreaded worksheets we sometimes have to do are great to through on the Elmo to demonstrate. Books, poems, etc like mentioned before. Kids can use fly swatters to swat words they know if you leave it up during centers or literacy groups.

Flat Stanley postcards

I use ELMO for stories and handwriting also. One favorite thing is to show postcards from the Flat Stanley project. Also when children bring in photographs to share, you can show them to the whole class. It is also wonderful for science. The kids are able to see bugs, shells, and all sorts of nature up close and huge on ELMO.

Would you mind telling me the real name for Elmo. I have heard of them. All these comments confirm how great they are, and I would like to find out more information. I tried googling Elmo, and, well, you know what the 1,000,000 hits were. Thanks!
