Love and Logic?

I was curious if anyone is using Love and Logic techniques in their first grade classrooms? I am an entry year teacher and have attended a few new teacher workshops and they suggest using Love and Logic. I've tried a few things that seem to work ok, but I am trying to decide if I should purchase the book and really try it out. Any of your thoughts and/or opinions are appreciated! TIA

I like it. I'd love to attend a workshop on L&L specifically, but I've just done it based on the book.

I'm the kind of teacher who doesn't believe in or use incentives or behavior charts/plans for my whole class (I will for individual students as needed). L&L helps me deal with my students using a caring approach without any incentives or behavior plans.

It teaches you to use empathy, natural consequences, give students choice, and I-statements to name a few.

I think you should get it!

I am using it this year. I have read half of the book so far and found so many things to use in my classroom and in my home. It really has helped me to relax when disciplining children. There is also a Love and Logic book for young children that a teacher on my team read to use with her little boys and says it is great for first graders as well.

I read it over the summer and like it. I recommend borrowing or purchasing the book. It is a great resource. I do not love it, but absolutely use the ideas in my classroom. I really like the Responsive Classroom approach.

I have used Love and Logic for a long time. I would suggest that you watch the L & L videos. I also used it when my sons were young(they are now 26 and 23). It worked! I now have my one son asking me about it so he can use it when his newborn daughter is older.
