Christmas Gifts for Students

I was wondering what everyone is planning as a Christmas gift for their students. I have usually done the book coupon from scholastic, but few kids actually turn them in! I would love to hear what cute inexpesive things everyone is planning.

Thanks,
Lisa

My students get a Christmas pencil, some inexpensive candy and their "big" gift is a Christmas themed Homework Pass they can use on any homework assignment.

I used to do the Scholastic coupon also, but so many kids didn't use them or they lost them, so this is easier & costs less for me!!

I found my coupons and posted in case interested. . .

I do the free book but don't allow the children to take anything home. I choose 10 book choices and have the children pick in the classroom. Works out great and the children LOVE the book.

I usually get them a word search or similar activity book (Dollar Store), with a Merry Christmas pencil, and a candy cane.

I bought the personalized pencils from forteachersonly.com. They were $0.89 for a set of three and come in a little red pouch. I also personalize ornaments for them (2 for $1.00 at Dollar Tree) and hang on our classroom tree. They can take them home before break.

Last year was my first year with the pencils and they were so amazed that they had their names on them! I just ordered them for this year yesterday!

Book in a bag

I bought a christmas themed easy chapter book for my second graders from scholastic. They were $1 a piece, but I got one free with every 5 I ordered. You still have time to order them from the November catalog and you can use bonus points too! Then, I put them in gift bags with some candy and pencils (Dollar tree), and snowman soup (hot chocolate mix with a poem).

Christina, I like the personalized oranament idea! What do you use? One of those paint markers?

On one of the past Scholastic book order, they had this Christmas Ready Freddy book that was 2$ a piece, or a small amount of bonus points. I used my bonus points to buy all my Kinders this book. We alternate between hearing Junie B and Ready Freddy, and they all like ready Freddy better, so it worked out. I am going to make them a little book mark to put in there, but other than that, I actually won't spend anything this year except whatever it takes to make bookmarks for their little books.
