Lit Circle Question

I am going to try Lit. circles after Thanksgiving and I have a question about roles. Does each student keep the same job for the entirety of the book or do they switch jobs each time they meet? Any guidance anyone might have about management of Lit. circles would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Lit Circles

I have 6 different jobs, and they rotate through each one. So if someone generates questions as "Discussion Director" for the first time, then the next time that the group meets, the person is responsible for the next job, like "Word Finder". I find that each student wants to do each job, and then I can assess questioning, visualizing, etc.

Have fun!

I have never used Lit. circles. Could you please list the 6 different jobs and their roles?

When I did literature circles during my student teaching, I made a spread sheet and rotated the roles each time the students had a lit circle. That way they had the opportunity to do a different role.

Roles:

Discussion Director
Artful Artist
Word Finder
Connector

I forget what else I had, but there was another job that entailed finding quotes and interesting parts of the book.

Here's what I use for mine in third grade if it helps anyone!

I use these as bookmarks so the kids remember their roles.
