Does anyone send home any winter recess ideas for the parents to do with their child? I was thinking of sending something home. Is that a bad idea? Any ideas would be appreciated.

winter recess homework ideas

Our grade level doesn't send homework home for those 2 weeks. We do have several 1 week vacations (how did we manage that terrific feat!?!), and we send home a journal for the students to complete. It says something like, "On Wednesday, November 19, 2009, I _______________." Their parents help them write what they did that day and the student draws a picture.

I overheard a first grade teacher saying she sends home all those unused worksheets and workbook pages she never got to during class. She treats it like review. Students get a BIG treat when it comes back completed.

Maybe you could make some sort of calendar like the homework calendars on www.kellyskindergarten.com?
