Hi!
I know I've seen a post about using Cheez-Its to teach area and perimeter...does anyone have any ideas they are willing to share?
Thanks in advance!

I can picture this in my head, and I like it! I think the visual of the two will help the students to really see it. Also, it would be memorable enough that we could refer to it later!

Great idea! Why didn't I think of that. ProTeacher provides teachers with a wealth of information even though sometimes it gets a little overwhelming as to what a great job teachers are doing out there.

To expand just a little and because I have them on hand. I might use the Goldfish for the perimeter as I am always talking about the ant going around the outside edge---or I-285 is the PERIMETER of Atlanta. Not sure I want to give them ANTS, but fish could certainly swim after each other.

Thanks for the pretzel stick idea!! I've always used wheat thins for area, but it NEVER occured to me to use something for the actual perimeter of a shape. What a great idea -- can't wait to use.

This is a little worksheet I made up for the cheez-its area. The kids used cheez-its to find the area of each shape. The kiddos needed at least 16 cheez-its each. One regular size box of cheez-its was enough for 20 kiddos. They loved it! I also did the area amigos suggested by someone else. I will post pic of ours later this week.
