Does anyone know of any children's books that deal with this topic?? I'm having some issues with one of my little girls getting called names and being picked on. So I'm hoping to nip this in the bud. Any help will be greatly appreciated! )

Ruby Bridges is a good book to read when dealing with this topic.

Picture book- "Sister Anne's Hands"- about a nun in the 1960's who experiences racism by her student's parents- beautiful, powerful message without being accusatory or preachy and not a religious book. I have my class all trace their hands and deocrate with polka dots, stripes etc... and we make a "wreath" around the name of our class with all of the hands joined .
PS- My daughter is a purduegirl!

There's a short chapter book called The Jacket by Andrew Clements that you could do as a read aloud that deals with preconceived notions and racism.

might help. I colored eggs to represent different races. We talked about how the eggs were different yet all the same. At the end i cracked open each egg and put them all in a class container. They could easily see that even though we are all different on the outside, we all are the same inside.
