decorating a flower pot

I need help. Every class in our school has to decorate a huge pot outside our classrooms.
Then we have to plant something and have the class take care of it. Like I don't have enough to do already. I don't know what we are suppose to do if it freezes one night or who will take care of these plants during the holidays. But anyway I need some items about how to decorate the pot. Some things the other clases have done are handprints, a moon and sun with beads, stick people with stone heads, mosic with some tiles. If anyone has any items, I sure would welsome them. Thanks so much

You could make handprint flowers. Google it and you should find a picture. You could paint it with the school colors and put the school mascot on it (use an overhead or opaque projector and trace the image on).

You could paint it black with chalkboard paint (ACmore) and then put a real or ribbon tape measure around the top and bottom as trim (the yellow ribbon tape measure is cool if you can find it). Then have each kid put their name on the pot in chalk. You can write on this painted surface. Very 'schoolish'.

If you can not find a ribbon that looks like a ruler, maybe you could get one of those plastic type that seamstresses use.
