Amazing Grace and Oliver Button is a Sissy. These two are really good for character analysis too.
In previous years, I have used The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush and The Legend of the Blue Bonnet.

We have been using the current issue to tie in Social Studies and have been comparing our modern lives to the lives of pilgrim children.

My students have enjoyed comparing fairy tale stories. We did Cinderella and compared the different ways in which it was written.
