Since you are all so creative....does anyone have any cute art projects for Thanksgiving with a group of third graders?

Thanks!

One year I gathered some pinecones and hot glue gunned them to a base/piece of wood. On the flat side of the pinecone we put a pompom as the head. On that we put some googly eyes and a small piece of felt for the beak. On the other side of the pinecone we glued on some feathers. Comes out cute!

On Tuesday before Thanksgiving my team teacher and I always have the kids make turkey headbands. they love them. You cut a strip of paper to go around their head. They glue on eyes and make a 3-d beak and of course the red gobbler on the front. Then feathers on the back. While they make those we call groups back to make turkey crackers. Put pnut butter on a ritz cracker. Put some straight preztel sticks for feathers and 2 candy corns for feet. Top with another ritz. Using pnut butter as the glue use a rit bits for the head, mini m&ms for eyes another candy corn for the beak and red pull apart licorice for the gobler.

Thanksgiving placemat

We make Thanksgiving placemats: they show a turkey and on each paper feather the children write one thing they're thankful for.

You'll need (all made of construction paper):

one large piece of construction paper
one brown circle (for the turkey's body)
5 large feather shapes (each a different color of your choice)
2 orange feet
1 small light brown circle (for the head)

Glue the dark brown body in the middle of the large piece of construction paper. Glue the small light brown circle on the dark brown circle. Draw eyes, a beak, and a waddle on the light brown circle. Glue the 5 feathers around the dark brown body and glue the orange feet at the bottom of the body. Have students write what they're thankful for on each feather.
