Can anyone recommend appropriate titles for second grade boys who read at about a K or L guided reading level? This is coming from my being asked by parents for recommendations!

Nate the Great series (k), Jack Russell: Dog Detective Series (L), Cam Jansen series (L)(I have several boys this year who really like this series),Horrible Harry series (L).

Bailey School Kids series: not sure of the exact level but a WONDERFUL series. There is even a Jr. chapter book series for the lower readers so they can read chapter books too.

Even though I know these following books are not the best reads, I have had reluctant readers in the past and this is what I got them hooked in reading with: Captain Underpants and The Magic Pickle. (dumb storylines but good for reluctant readers to start with).

My boys last year were nutz about the Ricky Ricotta books. Pics on every page and OK story lines. Franny K Stein was popular too but I know a little harder than K and L levels.
