Beginning Chapter Book ..

I have three first graders that I would like to group in a high reading group and give them a beginning chapter book to focus on from after Thanksgiving until Christmas. Any suggestions? I need something that will challenge them and pulling them back for high-frequency word help, spelling help, and phonics help in small group is too easy for them. What easy chapter book might these children enjoy and feel special to be reading?

My first graders have loved reading these for guided reading...
Henry and Mudge
Frog and Toad
Poppleton
Horrible Harry
Cam Jansen
Magic Tree House

The nice thing about these is that there are more books in the series, which usually encourages them to keep reading!

Ready Freddy!

My 1st grade son loves this series. Kind of like a boy Junie B Jones. Easy to read chapter book

All of the above suggestions are great ideas. They are all great series, and my kids enjoy reading them tremendously. The fact that there are so many in most of these series keeps my kids reading, reading, reading!
