Does anyone have a sample letter where the teacher introduces a student teacher to the parents? Thanks

I wrote my own introduction letter to the parents. I gave it to my collaborating teacher for her to preview. I agree, it should be the student teacher's responsibility.

vote for it to be the student teacher's responsibility!!!!!

You can look it over before you send it home, but let her/him write it! You can always include a little note in the newsletter that week such as "Make sure and read Ms.Teacher's note this week. We are happy to welcome into our classroom!"

I have had several student teachers in my classroom and each one of them was responsible for writing an introduction letter to parents. I proofed the letters and offered suggestions, but it was their responsibility.

student teacher's job

I am a student teacher this year. I wrote my own introduction letter and have wrote one for every classroom I have been placed in to observe prior to my student teaching placement. My teachers have always read over the letter before I sent it home with the kids. It's the student teacher's job to write the letter and in my case is a college requirement.

I'm glad I happened upon this thread.

So....should I suggest to my student teacher that she do this? It is not a 'requirement' for her to do, but I would like her to introduce herself to the families.

I'm afraid if I don't suggest it, she won't know to do so. I know I didn't! (I think my cooperating teacher must have written the letter-looking back, I don't remember!).

I've had many student teachers, but have never sent home a note to the parents. It's always been a personal introduction, usually when the students are being picked up. The students tell the parents they have another teacher, the parents come over to say hi, and I introduce him or her (actually, I've only had hers.) I'll be sure to suggest a letter to my next student teacher.

I add a note in my weekly newsletter to welcome Ms. So and So to our class, but I also encourage my student teachers to write their own introductory letter.
