At one time someone posted a recipe to make thunder cake in the crock pot that can be used when reading the story Thundercake. Does anyone have it?

This comes from the Basic Cooking Tips website. I prefer it to the other recipes out there because it actually uses the ingredients in the story. I hope this helps.

“Thunder Cake Crock Pot
The recipe that follows is taken from the book.
You will need: 1 cup of butter; 1 cup of sugar; 1 tsp. vanilla; 3 eggs, separated; 1 cup of cold water; 1/3 cup pureed tomatoes; 2 cup cake flour; cup cocoa; 1 tsp. baking soda; and 1 tsp. salt. ... and cream together: butter, sugar, vanilla, eggs yolks, cold water, and tomatoes. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until they are stiff. Then, sift flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt together. Finally, mix the dry mixture with the creamed mixture and bake in your slow cooker (greased) on low for two to three hours. Make sure to check the cake often (do not leave this one cooking all day long!). ...."

For those of you who are not bakers, cake flour is cake flour. It is usually finer than regular flour. There is a difference.

Second point. Before pureeing the tomatoes, seed them. I find that the seeds make it taste a little bitter.
