Fluency rates for 2nd grade

A parent just emailed and wanted to know what a child in 2nd grade should be reading by the end of 2nd grade. I reminded her that 60 WPM was the goal we had for the end of first grade. I told her fluency is not a race. I am thankful for your responses.

I agree- about 115 wcpm would be right- at a 2nd grade level. I know some kids can read that, but on a lower level text. When it gets to the end of 2nd grade level, many kids can't quite make it...

I always like to look at fluency norms.
