Does anyone know how to make a ornament with a photograph on it? I would like to take a picture of the class and make it into an ornament for their trees.

I used to make one out an oaktag circle, with a concentric circle in the middle and spokes coming our from the inner circle. It will look like a peppermint candy. I have the kids color it red and white, or green and white, or green, white, and red. In the center they put their individual picture. Then we wrap it in plastic wrap and tie the ends with curling ribbon. it looks just like a peppermint candy! Then we glued a little clothes pin on the back, but you you could punch a hole and loop a string to hang. Very cute!

I'm in the process of taking a digital photo of each of my kids reading a book. I plan to print each picture on an index card with the words, "Look who's reading!" and cut it in the shape of a bookmark. I'll have a ribbon or yarn at the top and hang it from the tree. Then, my last day of groups (I'm the reading teacher) before Christmas break, they can take their own off the tree to keep.

Oriental Trading Co. [catalog or online] has lots of ornaments that you can buy bulk and have the kids make as a craft. They are foam material and you can buy them in packs of 12 for between $2.95-$5 a pack. I liked using them because the kids could make their ornament and had a good time with that. Then I took a picture of each student and put it in the ornament and helped them wrap them to take home.

You can find wooden frame ornaments at craft stores.
If you have access to a die cut machine you can cut oak tag into circles or stars, etc, and glue pictures on them. then you could laminate them.
Fun foam also works.
Best wishes.

We make CD picture ornaments each year.
I go to the Post Office and they give me those free cds that are always around, but I can never seem to find when I need them.
The kids decorated them with glitter glue, and I put a picture of them to cover the hole in the middle.
Hot glue a ribbon on top, and you have a beautiful, inexpensive ornament. The silver color also reflects beautifuly with the Christmas lights on the tree!!
Hope this helps...
(I have also made refrigerator magnet pictures with them as well. Lots of uses for those things...)

I bought clear plastic ornament balls for the Christmas tree (found them at Hobby Lobby or other craft place). They open up and I placed the picture inside and stuffed the back with the gold (or any other color) shredded confetti paper. Tie the top with a ribbon and hang on the tree!
