Thin and Thick Questions

Do any of you teach this to your first graders? I'm pretty certain the concept of thin questions will be easy for my first graders to grasp. The thick questions are what I'm not so sure of. I'd love to hear what you've done. Thank you!

I used a stop light and taught the questions as green light (go right to it) and red light (stop and think about it). If you search for QAR questions or red light/green light I'm sure my post with all the details will come up. I've had a lot of success doing it this way. But I'm interested to see other's ideas and approaches as well.

this week I taught antonyms and thick and thin came up. My ELL students were having trouble until a little boy announced that its like a thick burger from Burger king and a thin burger from McDonalds. it was very funny
