AR books + Kindle + Free

Hello All!
My last post was about looking for free books. Many of you have come up with really cheap ways to get them and I am all over it. I came up with an idea today that I am sure is not new, but I am now sure how to go about obtaining it. Does anyone know how to possibly get free Kindle books that would also be listed for AR? I have an active board and I thought it would be a special treat to have once or twice a week to have an AR book downloaded and up on the active board.

the only free books are ones published so long ago, and in such little demand, that copyright is no longer valid. I do download some audiobooks for my iPod from iTunes, etc. but have to pay a few dollars for each usually. If you find a good source for free books, I'd like to know.

Check your local public library. Mine works with the Nook and Kindle to allow you to "check out" books to your Nook or Kindle.
Your library might have this feature also.

I found out that my local library has a program where once a year that have a HUGE sale on their discarded books. The books are in good condition and are like .25 to .75. I thought it was great!

I use the site http://www.tumblebooks.com/library/a...umblebooks.asp
Many of the books are AR. It is great to use in literacy stations because they can watch the book video and it has related activities to do with the book as well.

Grandmother and parent to a 4th grader

I googled "ar ebooks free" and found http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks and they offer free ebook downloads for Nook and kindle. All books are listed by level and for my 4th grader they are a little high ( 3.6 and up ) but I have chosen to read them to her first and then let her read them to me, before taking her test. I think this will prove to be a good combination and give us some time together. All you have to do is download to your desktop and then open your kindle / drag and drop into the document folder of your kindle. I hope this helps!
