I saw a post yesterday with some VistaPrint goodies attached that had some ideas for a "brainiac club"... I was just thinking about how nice it would be to offer something like this in my room for extensions, but now I can't find the post! HELP!!
I am going to try it out this year! I made some things of my own in Vista Print to give it a try. I am excited to try it and I think some of the students will really take it and run with it. I am going to have to think of some incentive for them when they reach the "Hall of Fame."
I want to try it out too- I teach 3rd grade though, and want to create tasks that are do-able for my kids... some of these will be fine, but not all. Would you mind sharing your VP ideas?? And anything else you come up with. I'd really appreciate it!
I am going to require the students write out their answers and tell where they got the information (website or book), but they will have to tell me without looking at their notes. 5th graders should be able to do this.
In order to track what the students have done, I "think" I am going to create a tracking sheet with 84 squares to represent the 84 learning activities. I have 2 binders (1 for boys, 1 for girls) where I keep student information such as parent information sheets, parent contacts logs, and signed progress reports, so I will keep their BRAINiac Club tracking sheet in that binder as well.
Hayleys_mommy---Feel free to "steal" the name for your club. I "stole" all of the tasks from Mrs. Renz...make sure you give her credit.
Teach4Life---I like the pic you used. Can I ask if you somehow were able to copy the words/format from my design and just change the pic, or did you have to redo everything? I would love to know how to copy and paste some stuff from other VP examples, but they always turn out blurry.
This looks very interesting and I would like to use something like this in my class next year. Will you provide the web sites listed on Mrs. Renz's site or will you require your students to find their information on their own? TIA
