I am looking for a behavior chart that would go in a daily folder for the parents to sign every night. Does anyone have one already made up that they love and has worked great for them? It would be for second grade and 2 teachers because we are departmentalized.
Our school provides an Agenda to use with each student. I absolutely love it. We have a green/yellow/red behavior system. At the end of the day, I would write in their Agenda what their behavior was for the day along with any other notes.
The parents were to sign the agenda each night. It is our main form of communication between home and school.
The interesting thing was about mid-spring something magic happened. As I said, I would sign the agendas at the end of the day stating their behavior along with any other notes.
I changed to putting in green stars at the beginning of the day. Then, if a child started to go downhill on their behavior, I reminded them THEY would have to write in their agenda to their parents about what they did to loose their green star. It was a complete 180 for the students who needed that 'kick in the pants'.
I used the ones from www.sanchezclass.com (look under teachers and then the booklet for new teachers) It worked great for me and there are several versions, perhaps one will work. They are ready made and wonderful!!!!! You may even be able to adapt one.
We just used a calendar each month. The kids kept them in their take-home folders all month and we collected at the beginning of the following month. We divided each "date square" in half with a diagonal line. The top half is where students would color in the appropriate color to show where they were at the end of the day. If they were on red or beyond I would jot a note in the comments section at the bottom to explain why. Parents would initial in the bottom section of the square.

Reason: finish explanation
Last year I had a stoplight system -- red, yellow, green. We also have a daily assignment sheet. I ran copies of the assignment sheet with a small stoplight on it for each day and just colored in the appropriate spot each afternoon and added notes about why the kids moved. (That was ALL I did during specials most days, but it wasn't really hard.) If kids needed to move, I wrote a brief reason by that color -- ie, I put a quick note like "talking" (or whatever) beside the yellow light when the student had to move to that level. Parents have to sign that sheet each night, so they were always aware of behavior.
I've always used a calendar in each child's daily folder. For each day on the calendar they get a sticker for satisfactory behavior, my initials if their behavior needed improvement, or handwritten details of a behavior that I feel their parents need to be aware of. Some years I've put in my rule list and jotted the rule number that the child had trouble with.
I like some of the ideas here. May make some changes even though the calendar has worked well for me. Always want to keep it as quick and easy as possible!!
nestamper, I LOVE your "No Monkey Business" report! I have always used a calendar like teacherski but it always seemed plain and boring. I can't wait to change monkeys into bees and bananas into flowers. What a terrific update for our BEE binders! Thanks bunches for sharing!!
nestamper, I just love the behavior chart relating to monkeys! I am a first year teacher and I have been trying to come up with ideas for having a Monkey theme in my classroom...that is perfect!! Do you mind if I use the idea?
I love this individual record keeper and I would love to use it but my colors are in the same order as the original clip chart that is online. Is there a way to change these colors to that chart or if you could do it, I would be very, very appreciative!! I tried using this beginning January of last year and I have a difficult time keeping track of it. This would really help!! Thanks! Nanny
I really LOVE this chart and it goes with my Star Theme in my classroom, but my colors are like the orginal chart and I have already purchased the vinyl one and need to use it. I tried to change it, but it won't let me. Could you or someone that is not computer challenged like me, send me a copy in Word or change it to: Red-Outstanding, Organge- Great Job, Yellow-Good Day, Blue- Think About It, Purple-Teacher's Choice, Pink- Parent Contact. I would be so grateful! Nanny
