I need some ideas for a reading data wall display. I plan on creating a polka dot theme this year and need a data wall to match. The data wall should show growth in students reading levels or show they've met their reading goal. Any ideas out there? Thanks!
Are you just needing ideas for data to display? You could graph their sight words, reading levels, words per minute, and if you do Daily 5, you could include your class stamina graph.
At our school we do a data wall for K-2. It has the students reading levels on it and shows how they progress each marking period. Each teacher has a color coded sticker to distinguish them apart without writing the students names on the card. We aslo have different colored stickers to show any retentions or if they are EC. This wall is located in the room where we have our TAT meetings. It's a BIG help and you see how students show growth-
We have a K-5 data wall that shows reading levels for each quarter (which is based on accuracy, comprehension, and fluency) and proficiency levels on the back (along with a student ID number).
Interventions the student received (color coded) are on the front of the card.
I really like your categories. I am wondering if you display the children's names on your data charts? I have found that many students are motivated when they can see a visual on their progress. Some students really struggle in reading but they are pleased to know that they are making progress even if some students are better readers at this first grade stage. What is your experience? Thanks.
