How long do you keep your old check books?

I was just going through some stuff in our computer/junk room and I found boxes of DH's old checkbooks (the carbon copy parts) that are from a bank that he hasn't even had for years. I also found boxes of ours (current bank) that go back about a year or so.

I'm really tempted to toss them, but I'm not sure how long you are technically supposed to keep them.?.?

to your income tax, I think it's five years. Check with a CPA or IRS.

DH has his going back 30 years, but he is a hoarder. I've heard 7 years for taxes.

I have found that you can find any canceled checks online now. My bank allows you to view them online with no charge.

I wouldn't keep old checks anymore.
