Spelling Pretest Form

I don't know if this will be useful to anyone, but it worked well for my 5th graders last year. I had two different spelling groups, so when I gave the pretest on Mondays, I gave one group 12 of the words which they filled out. Once finished, they went to Spelling City to look up their list and self-correct their pretest (writing the correct word if misspelled). Then they would write the entire spelling list for the week, as well as the pattern/rule (while I tested the second group). I hope someone can use it. I'm attaching it in PDF and in word, in case you want to change something.

In a Word doc. If it looks weird, I always change my margins to all zeroes, so I can use the fullest amount of the page possible.

I like this a lot!

One question though... do you check each paper after the kids have corrected their work and wrote their list? I noticed that when I asked my kids to copy the words correctly, they flew through it and had more words spelled wrong than right!

Hi MissC83...yes I did check through their work and they knew I was going to, so they were more careful of copying the words down. Actually, the copying was never a problem, it was the pretest words. Some would check off words that they thought were correct, even if they were misspelled. Once we went over the routine and checking carefully though, they were better about it. I was really lucky this year to have a phenomenal class, we'll see how it goes this coming year!
