I was prowling in the $ bin at Target and found a bag of 50 foam counting blocks. They're about 1.5 inches. I decided I would grab THE LAST BAG and figure something out later.
Well, I am going to make my own sets of Boggle. I shall call it Foggle: Foam + Boggle = Foggle. Well, every once in a while I am amazed at one can find online, and today is one of those moments. I found a breakdown of what letters are on each Boggle die, and I am ready to go! I thought I would share this little morsel of info with my PT family. Once I make up my instructions sheet and scoring sheet, I'll share those too.
I also bought those blocks but did not know what to do with them. Thanks so much, what a great idea. I'll have to come back to get the rest of your instructions!! YEAH!
I have a standard boggle set in my room and never let the kids use it becuase it is soooo loud..ha. But, the foam squares will be great! Thanks for the idea!
By the way...I'm glad I'm not the only one that buys things that look cool and come up with an idea for it later...ha
This is an awesome idea! I did see those little foam cubes @ my Target. Have y'all seen that Boggle game that you can make into a bulletin board? Kids can make up as many words as they can throughout the 9 weeks w/the letters you've placed. S/he who gets the most words is the winner.
I wish there was a target near me. I play boggle in my class on special occasions like holidays (I have 6 sets). The kids love it and ask to play at other times but its just too noisy. I'm on a mission now to find the cubes.
How do you plan to get the cubes in a boggle square after the kids spill them out?
Here is a white board boggle--another PTer shared this back in April but I can't find the post to give them credit. Whoever shared it Thank you--I love it and so do the kids.
I made the bulletin board last year. I used cut out letters--made three of each letter in the alphabet and then mounted them on index cards. I made up my own grid combinations using the vowels sound we were working on during that week. The kids loved playing this. I would give them the entire week to make up as many words as they could (they wrote them down). At the end of the week, I would collect them, check the words, and award points. The children kept track of the points they earned and periodically awards were given.

Since I work with middle school kids, the little sneaks move the cubes around anyway. I plan on laminating a large 4x4 grid or even marking the grid out on a place mat. Or I'll see if a 4x4 of cubes fits on a coaster. That way I could "scrapbook" custom boards.
I'll keep the cubes in a pouch inside a plastic tumbler. They will roll out the dice and place them on to the grid. It's not strict Boggle, but after all this is Foggle.
I also use the Boggle Your Mind BB in my classroom. Every Monday morning i change the letters and the students must turn in their sheets by Friday lunch, then I announce the winner Friday afternoon. The student with the most points received 5 StarBucks (which were good for rewards).
I made my own Boggle board out of colored poster board. I used an online boggle game to get the letters for the board, and then printed out letters from ABC teach and then laminated them for the board.
Thank you for sharing the information about the Boggle bulletin board. I have a small bulletin board in a corner of my room that it will be perfect for it!
After reading all these great ideas I think I will make a Boggle BB. Every Monday I will put up a new set of letters. Students then have all week to work on it. It will be offered as an option when they are finished with their work. On Fridays I will collect their papers and the student with the most correct words will receive a "Boggle Bandz". I picked up a ton of silly bandz at the Target $ spot. I was wondering what exactly I would do with them....now I know!!
