Parent Helper Poems

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi all,

We are having an afternoon tea at school this Thursday for our parent helpers for the year. Every class has to do something. My idea was to get the kids to say a poem thanking the parents for their help throughout the year. I was hoping to find a suitable poem on the net but have been unsuccessful so far. I also tried writing one of my own, but with the stress of the end of the year and reports to write I am suffering a bit of writers block. Does anyone know of any good poems of thanks? (cute one suitable for grade one students to say)

I would appreciate your help.
Thanks Liv

Hi Liv,

This is one I have used in the past. I printed it, framed it and gave them a diecut of a little bookworm that we had. They loved it!
A Thank You Hiss

Sammy Snake says, "No one's so dear
As a dedicated volunteer.
The ones who come to school each day,
Who work for love and not for pay.

They do so many different tasks,
Most anything our teacher asks.
Like help us write and cut and stuff
And then in math when it gets tough!

They help us do the bulletin board,
A smile from us is their reward.
For they do know, for goodness sake,
It's hard to be a student snake.

We hand them homework every day.
They type and file our things away.
Then sort the mail for everyone
To take back home when day is done.

We're glad they're here, they're really great!
We little snakes appreciate
The ones who spend their time like this.
We hope they like our thank you hissss."

Hope this helps some!

I just joined the board today and see I missed your deadline but in the future maybe you can use this poem:

BECAUSE YOU'RE SPECIAL
We sometimes take for granted
In the rush of all we do,
And forget to say a special thanks
To volunteers like you!
So we send this to tell you
How much all you do means,
Your gifts of time and of yourself
Are special ones indeed.
