It is also helpful to note that I use what I teach whole group or during morning meeting as my independent games. For example, at morning meeting maybe up on my promethean board I have a dice, a picture of a tree, and some apple counters on the board. I show the students how to roll the dice, read the number, and then count that many apples and place them on the tree. A couple students come up as our activity to model how this game looks. I then show them the physical materials for this game and where they will be located in the math area for independent math time.
