I am looking for easy math games that can be used year round for my math with someone rotation.

One that I use now was a homemade version of a game that I saw in a teaching catalog and I call it addition race.
I took 11 fun paper shapes and wrote the numbers 2-12 one on each of the shapes.
I also have two dice.
Th students play this in pairs.
They spread out the paper shapes number side up. Each student rolls a die. Then they have to add up the sum individually. The first student to slap the correct sum on the paper shapes is the winner.

I am looking for more easy math games like this that they can use year round for first grade students. Maybe involving cards or something. Any ideas?

There are lots of great games at www.kidscount1234.com that I use with my first graders...

here are some others...

1. Top-it...use a deck of cards with 1-10...I use keno cards from a casino, but you can use a regular deck...take out jacks, queens, kings...basically the game is like War...set deck between 2 kids, each draws one card, lays it down, and the one with the highest takes both; if the card is the same value, each chooses another and lays them down and highest takes all cards...

Variations...
take 2 cards...add together and whoever has the highest sum takes the cards

2. Domino top-it...using a set of dominoes, turn them over in the middle of the table...two kids play, each draws a domino, adds the dots together and whoever has the highest number takes both dominoes, most dominoes at the end wins...

There are lots of great everyday math games to play...google everyday math games and lots of ideas come up...

I just have to say THANK YOU for sharing this site. I have found SO many wonderful math games for my students to use in the classroom I can't wait to get started on them!! As a first year teacher trying to do my best (and not just use worksheets everyday) I feel lucky to have come across this information!
