Any fun and engaging way to teach summarize by sequencing to high level 3rd graders? I'd like to do a week long project (I have to "enrich" the topic within a week). I can only think of the boring "read a passage, answer questions" or "Make a sequence chart" activity. These kids have mastered the topic and are ready for the next level. I'd love to incorporate some higher level (Bloom's) thinking on the topic!!

I don't know if this is what you want, but I teach my students to use the 5-finger summary. Somebody wanted....but/so....then...in the end....

Example: Cinderella wanted to go to the ball. But, her evil stepmother didn't want her to go. Then, Cinderella's fairy godmother helped her get to the ball. In the end, Cinderella and the prince fell in love, married, and lived happily ever after.

I teach my students that the but/so and then parts can be in a different order....they are not set in stone... We trace hands and write the parts in the fingers....

I'm so glad this site is up and running again... I have a big group of very visual learners this year!
